Students at Ecole Okotoks Junior High got a crash course on their well being Friday, at the school's first ever Wellness Fair.

The day started with a guest speaker from the Canadian Sledge Hockey team, then groups got to attend whichever wellness classes they chose for the day.

The fair had plenty of activities, from stress management classes to yoga, to an Iron Chef theme snack competition.

O.J. teacher Carli Robertson says the goal is to get students to learn useful life skills for their future.

"The students will be able to learn some different strategies and different ways they can improve their overall well being," she says. "Including emotional, social, and their physical well being. just some real practical strategies and habits that they can use well into their adulthood."

Robertson says she hopes the fair becomes an annual event as it was a hit with the students.

"The buzz, the positivity, and their energy around the day has been nothing but positive. Kids are coming up and starting to realize the wonderful opportunity, and privilege that they have in participating in the first round of this/"

Grade 9 student Ella Rausch agrees with Robertson, she says the fair has a lot of benefits.

"Its nice to have a day of the year that you can learn about how to manage your school life."
