Over a year later, Bluerock Gallery in Black Diamond has been reunited with a stolen piece of art.

Around March 6th, 2015 a smash and grab took place at the gallery where three bronze sculptures were taken, one of which being Raven's Voice by Kindrie Grove, and two western style pieces by Donna Wilson called The Old Rugged Cross and The Gopher Hunters.

Karen Gimbel, co-owner of Bluerock Gallery, says she received an unexpected call from a Calgary police officer a few weeks ago confirming they had a piece stolen to make sure an item they recovered was the same missing Raven's Voice sculpture.

"I had to confirm by sending them an image and the name and value of the piece which matched up and we were really thrilled when a couple weeks ago a very nice police officer walked into the gallery with the bronze," she says. "It was a lovely thing to have something returned, I thought we would probably never see it again."

Gimbel adds if the piece could talk it would have some interesting stories.

She says she hopes the thieves have learned their lesson.

"I wish that the people who are now in jail who were apparently a part of this thieve ring, that included the people who took the bronzes from us, I hope they find a way to transform their own lives so they don't feel they need to take something that doesn't belong to them in order to get by in the world."

Raven's Voice is for sale and the other two pieces by Donna Wilson are still missing.
