If you missed out on filling up a shoe box for Operation Christmas Child here in the Foothills this year, you still have a chance to get it done.

Frank King, the Media Relations Manager with Samaritans Purse, says you can still fill a box and drop it off at their donation centre in Calgary.

"The can absolutely bring shoe boxes by the Calgary Processing Centre for Operation Christmas Child. That's at 20 Hopewell Way N.E. That's near the intersection of Barlow Trail and McKnight Boulevard"

King says for many people it's easier to give online and filling a box is just a mouse click away.

"Just go to PackaBox.ca, and follow all the directions. It's kind of like shopping at Amazon. You pick your gender and your age range and your presented with a basket full of stuff and you can add onto that if they want to."

King says most Operation Christmas Child packages from North America will be heading to Central and South America, along with the Caribbean.

But he also points out, many will go to the Ukraine, and while they don't normally allow people to self direct where their shoe boxes go, he says because they encourage people giving to kids in the Ukraine some different items like winter gloves or touques.

If you want your package to go there, just write in big, bold letters, or put a label on the box that says "Ukraine" which alerts the volunteers sorting the boxes, who'll make sure it goes to the right place.
