Midnight tonight is the cut off for the early bird tickets with the STARS Ambulance Lottery.

Spokesperson with STARS Air Ambulance Cam Heke says this is the single largest source of funding to keep STARS in the sky and help rescue those in need.

"Essentially we're a flying air ambulance and we use helicopters to deliver medical teams to critically injured or ill parients. So these could be people involved in a vehicle collision on the highway or a workplace accident or also things like medical emergencies so heart attacks, strokes, and things of that nature."

Heke says he's grateful for the support they've received so far, and they're really hoping to sell more tickets.

"I just wanna say thank you so much to the public for supporting us this year. It's a tough economy in Alberta and ticket sales have been behind this year. And that's really why today we're getting out there and really asking the public please get behind the campaign. We're hoping to sell out. We've sold out every year for the past 20 years and we're in danger of not selling out for the very first time this year."

STARS operates three bases in Alberta, where they fly almost 2,000 missions per year.
