It's been an unusually warm spring.

Aquatics Supervisor Katie Crysdale says that's prompted the Town of High River to open the spray park a month early.

"We're really excited to open early, there's been a lot of interest from the community to have the spray park open and we do recognize these warmer temperatures mean that kids out and about in the evenings after school, why now have a great amenity for them to get out and burn off some energy each night," Crysdale says.

Again this year the Town is picking up the tab, but they're still working on getting a sponsor to come forward.

It does take some time to get the Spray Park up and running.

"Like swimming pools in Alberta it is regulated by Alberta Health Services so we do have to go through a full opening process where we clean all of the equipment and we make sure the water is filled and running with all of the chemicals and readings that are required by Alberta Health Services," she says. "So it is a bit of a process but that way we make sure the public is safe at all times and we we're fully compliant and running the best facility that we can."

The spray park will open Monday May 23. The park will be open from May 23 to July 1 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 3 – 7 p.m., weather permitting. In July and August the park will be open 10 a.m.. – 6 p.m. seven days per week.

The park is located at 1819 High Country Drive.
