The summer is wrapping up and with that, so is the Okotoks Spray Park.

Due to the large amount of rain this season, attendance at the park was sadly lower than usual, seeing a drop of about 50%.

Tuesday, August 23rd will be the last day of operation for the local park, closing a little earlier than normal for renovations.

Tim Arnholz, Aquatic Supervisor with the Town of Okotoks, says the park will see some great upgrades for next season.

"The concrete base will be expanded to double the size, the number of features will expand from 12 to 27, and washrooms will also be built on-site", he says.

The renovations will continue for the rest of this year, and the newly overhauled park will be ready to go for next summer. Opening day is currently set for June 15, 2017.
