Another current Mayor has decided he wants to stick around for another term.

Foothills M.D. Mayor, Larry Spilak has announced he'll run again in Division Six.

Spilak says, the Province making their move into the Growth Management Boards Municipalities is a big concern for him.

"The Province is mandating all of the municipalities to join this Calgary Growth Board," he says. "Now this is going to be in the planning stages for the next two years and it's going to be negotiated, all of the policies with-in this Growth Board are going to be negotiated with-in the ten municipalities that are partners in it.

He add, the result of this will effect Foothills growth, land use and certainly the autonomy and believes someone with some knowledge and experience needs to be in there and he plans to spend most of my time working on the project

In addition, he believes getting more businesses into the industrial corridor between High River and Okotoks is important. It is also something he wants to work to achieve because it'll help bring up the commercial tax base and take some of the burden off the residential tax base.

Spilak says, the M.D. is also keeping a close eye on the effects flood mitigation in High River might have on Foothills M.D. landowners downstream and wants to make sure they're protected.

He says, the Heritage Pointe fire hall is up and running well as is the Scott Seaman sports arena, a couple of the current council's achievements.
