The Alberta Government is looking for input from municipalities on how to best restore funding to the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP).

This program is a combination of three provincial programs, the Community Airport Program, Resource Road Program, and Local Road Bridge Program. The goal of the STIP program will be to provide financial assistance to help smaller and rural municipalites develop and maintain key infrastructure and promote economic growth.

High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass says if the government wants to help, he has a couple of projects in mind.

"I got a few things in mind for them that'll fit right into that, one thing being the Centre Street Bridge and the new transportation corridor through Wallaceville."

Snodgrass says the town is working with the government on these projects.

"We're working with the government right now to get a new bridge in there, higher and wider, as well as developing the overflow floodway that goes through Wallaceville."

He says the town has given the government a list of projects, including the centre street bridge and overflow floodway through wallaceville

"These two pieces are critical to our whole mitigation program. So, if they want projects to build I've sent a list up there thay know what it is."

Snodgrass says the town will gladly fill out a survey for the government, which is already pretty much completed in the list that's been sent to the province.
