The Town of High river now has confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says they're just trying to get more information from Alberta Health Services about the cases.

"We have got confirmation that we do have local cases in High River of individuals that have tested positive for COVID-19. We're working directly with Alberta Health Services and this is always their information to lead with of course, so we only get what we know from Alberta Health Services."

He says, while he had hoped to have no cases in High River, he knew that wasn't likely to happen, which is why the Town closed their facilities and is enforcing government health regulations.

"But it does put a little bit more focus on those things because once you actually know it does make you pay attention a little bit more, there's no question. We still need to be taking all this stuff seriously and our bylaw enforcement will be increasing their monitoring and making sure everybody's abiding by the rules."

Snodgrass says they're hoping to find out how the cases are being handled, meaning are the infected in self isolation at home or being treated in hospital?

The latest numbers from AHS show 24 cases of COVID-19 in Foothills County with 19 active cases and five recovered with zero deaths.
