Skateboards, rollerblades and bikes will be flying around the High River Skateboard Park as youth take part in the third Skate Mania event this summer on Aug 10.

Kalie Mosig, community capacity catalyst with Our High River, says the event has been running for four years now.

"Skate Mania is a free event where we have free food and music," said Mosig.

The youth organize games and contests and get prizes at the end of the night.

She added the weather last year caused Skate Mania to be cancelled for three of the four events so it is nice that the weather is cooperating this year.

"It has been really nice that we are back up and running and have had the most beautiful days to go out and do this kind of event this year."

Skate Mania runs every other Thursday night in the summer so there are only two more August 10 and 24th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

There are usually 30 to 50 youth out and a few families have joined in recently too.

"Every year we are hoping it will continue to grow."

The program is designed to build community relationships with the youth in High River and have their engagement in the process.

"So that we can continue to build all facets of our community."
