Organizers of this year's annual River City Show and Shine are having to scramble a bit after the tragic and untimely death of Car Show Chairman Garret Broer.

Barry Ferguson with the "Call of the West" Museum has taken over some of the role, while Ted Dawson and others are working together to make the sure the show comes off.

Ferguson says it's been tough on them all.

"We're still in shock over losing Garret. A bunch of us have jumped in and we're going to take up where he left off. And we're going to make this a bigger and better car show, dedicating it to Garret of course."

Ferguson, says one of the biggest obstacles in their way this time out is finding where to put all the cars, considering all the construction and detours in downtown High River.

"That's going to be a tough job and we've got a committee that's working on that now. They're working with the town trying to get these cars placed. Because we usually have 12-hundred cars come in for this. And George Lane Park, the poor thing, can only hold so many."

He says they're toying with the idea of making the car show a two day event, but they still have some issues to work out first.

The show runs Sunday, September 25 in High River.
