The Millarville Soup Sisters and Broth Brothers group is getting ready for another session of soup in the Foothills helping a worthy cause.

Each year the group puts the best concoctions together to make delicious recipes for the Rowan House Women's Emergency Shelter.

Soup Sisters Coordinator Betty Foran says the group is still fairly new to the Foothills.

"It's now a national organization across Canada," she says. "We started in our area in 2011 and we do it five times a year in September, November, January, March and May."

Soup Sisters serves the areas of Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Longview, Blackie, Cayley, Vulcan, Claresholm and the surrounding area and it's open to anybody looking to make that great batch of soup.

Foran says they are working diligently to get another batch ready for a visit in High River.

"It does go to Rowan House but also if you come to Soup Sisters and make soup you get to taste one of the soups. We serve you soup and salad along with a glass of wine and each time we make about 60 litres of soup."

The cost per event the group does is $55 to cover expenses of making the soup and buying all fresh ingredients for the soup.

"They serve this in the shelter plus they might take it out to their outreach clients and we do have a healthy relationships group that meets at Rowan House and we serve them soup because that's usually moms and children that come in and sometimes they don't have time to make supper before they come."
