Another successful Remembrance Day Service at the Memorial Centre in High River on November 11th.

Residents of the Foothills packed the hall to honour our Canadian soldiers.

High River Full Gospel Pastor and Pastor of the Legion Dean Kennedy says it is important that future generations know that freedom isn't free.

"I personally believe many of us in our own lives, many of us can't tell us who our great-great-grandfathers are or our great-grandfathers or where they came from," said Kennedy. "So when it comes to the preservation of freedom of life in our countries it is important that our children know that it costs something for us to be free today."

He added the soldiers that went to war are just like us.

"Even in the midst of battle they were afraid, they rose to a type of heroics. They did acts of heroism that literally cost them their lives, but it has allowed you and I to live in freedom for most of our lives."

Kennedy adds everyone should go to the Legion website and read the stories there.

"We must remember why we have freedom. I think as you get older you respect that more."
