The Notley government is moving to make life easier for families.

In Thursday's Speech from the Throne the government says they'll put more Albertans to work on highways, schools, affordable housing and hospitals across the province.

They plan to seek intervener status on any legal challenges to the Trans Mountain pipeline and will continue to work with the federal government and provinces on Energy East.

School material and textbook fees will be dropped by 25 per cent and busing fees will be dropped for students living within their designated school area.

Electricity rates will be capped and more long term care and dementia spaces will also be built.

Implementing a consumer Bill of Rights and expanding protections for victims of sexual and domestic assault are among key initiatives for this session.

The budget comes down March 16th.
