The second go round of house auctions in High River's Beachwood Estates community was more successful than the first.

Dallas Huybregts with Alberta Infrastructure says the closing dates for the auction were at the end of September.

"It included 17 unsold structures from the first auction and five additional structures that were cleaned out and re-tested for air quality following the initial auction, so they were deemed acceptable for auction, after the first auction had already taken place," Huybregts says. "We received bids on all 22 structures and so far we've got 18 bidders have submitted their security deposits and of those four have also submitted their full payment."

He says four have not yet submitted security deposits or payments.

Huybregts says the new owners have until November 30, December 1 and December 4, 2017 to pay in full for the auctions which closed September 26, 27 and 28 respectively.

The homes have to be moved by late May 2018.

"After people saw the first auction and saw how that process went through and saw a little bit of what it took to move a structure and get all the process engaged as far as making sure utilities were moved out of the way if that needed to be done, engaging a mover, prepping the structure, we had people who felt they could take on that task and were willing to put in a bid on the structure this time around," he says.

Huybrgts says there will not be a third round of auctions.

Any homes that are not paid for and moved by the deadlines will be demolished and made part of the contract for cleaning up the area and retuning it to its natural state.
