It's been a long time coming, but the Rio Alto Mexican Restaurant on 3rd Avenue in High River officially opens Friday night.
They gave it a whirl Thursday with a soft opening and owner Hector Lopez says it went better than he thought.
"Well, you know this was the first time, and I was really, really happy. People came and enjoyed and brought flowers for us as a thank you. Thank you to the people that came and the support and enjoyed the space and the food. I just want to say thank you to everybody!"
Lopez says once they've been open a couple of weeks, they're going to bring in a band and have salsa dancing which he says they'll do every month.
