There seems to be some confusion around where to park on High River's newly reopened 4th Avenue.

Engineer inspector with the Town, Alexa Stone, says they want to send a friendly reminder to residents that the road is deigned differently than others in town, and therefore parking is different.

"4th Avenue was designed to be like Stephen Avenue in downtown Calgary because we wanted to shut it down for things like the Farmers' Market, which will now be happening on Thursdays," she says. "So the design is now conducive for both drivers and pedestrians."

Stone says it was designed to have a zig-zag in it, which might take a while for residents to get used to.

"People aren't realizing that the road is not straight," she says. "So some of the people are confused as to where they're allowed to park, or not."

She says the Town will be doing a few things to help education residents on where to park.

"If people park in the wrong places, right now we have out Bylaw officers dropping off flyers on people's windshields," Stone says. "And it also has a diagram on it to educate people about where they can and cannot park."
