With the hot, summer days in full swing, the Town of High River wants to remind residents to conserve water.
Patrick Webb, with the Town, says we're under a water conservation Level 2 bylaw.
"That means a little bit of conservation is required by our citizens," he says. "What essentially the Town is saying is that there's a little bit of a draw on our water levels."
He says for the most part, people have been following the rules, but there are a few people who still need to get on board with this bylaw.
"Sometimes those people are ones that inadvertently have self-watering systems where they've set timers on, and they're going off on the wrong day or the wrong time," he says.
Bylaw officers are keeping a watch on the situation, and Webb says at this point in time, residents won't get fined, but they will get a warning if they're not following the rules.
The watering schedule is as follows:
- Southwest - Monday and Thursday
- Southeast - Tuesday and Friday
- Northeast / Northwest - Wednesday and Saturday
*Watering lawns is only permitted between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on specific days for each area of town.*
