A housing development planned to take the place of the Beachwood Estates area in High River is still a go.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says the Town had some issues with engineering that was done for the area off Highway 2 and behind the Super 8.

"It's a complicated file though and we knew it would be when it started because it's basically a Town of High River development within the MD of Foothills without approved annexation yet," he says. "Those are the things we've been working through for the last few months, because where it got muddied down a little bit is, working between the two jurisdictions with the MD and the Town."

He says in the end it will be a Town of High River development so they need to sign off on it and make sure it's up to town standards. The MD has signed off on that now and so it goes to the town and when signatures are required it goes to the MD where it'll be quickly reviewed and sent on its way.

Residents came out to an open house put on by the Town of High River to discuss Red Tail Rise last year.

"Where it's at right now, it's still proceeding, it will go, I know people are asking whether it's going or not, yes absolutely it's going and all of these developments, none of them are simple, there's environmental approvals that the developer is going through right now with Alberta Environment, but it's all happening," he says.

Snodgrass says in the end it's about making sure the developer and the Town are both being held accountable.
