There was large turnout for the Heritage Day celebrations and grand re-opening of the Macdougall House at Sheppard Family Park on Monday.

"We had about 150 people that came down to the park to spend the afternoon there from 1 to 3 pm. We had the opening of the MacDougall House which we had been working on since the flood, we had a great day."

She says the re-opening was staged with items from back in the 1900's and among the items was a tuxedo Billy MacDougall wore back when he was on Town Council.

She says they have another big event coming up.

"Our next major activity is the Old Time Threshing event which will be on Saturday September 10. We will have a petting zoo from 10am until 2pm and we'll start it all off with a pancake breakfast in the morning."

Mary Ann Dearing, Park President says it's all run by volunteers and they're always looking for people to help out especially during the larger events.

"They can phone Sheppard Family Park and just say that they'd like to volunteer and leave their name and phone number, we definitely need volunteers for special events."
