Nanton RCMP and Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers from CLARESHOLM were out west of Highway 22 on the weekend.

Corporal Travis Ogilvie says they wanted to make sure hunters were following the rules.

"Just with hunting season upon us we thought it was a good time to be out there and have a presence and enforce any hunting, traffic and provincial laws that we might come across out in the west country," Cpl. Ogilvie says.

He says they found everyone was compliant with the proper licences and were exercising all the safety precautions.

Cpl. Ogilvie says they'll be doing similar checks through the season.
