Rain over the last couple of days will definitely help most local farmers who've been watching their crops wither in the heat.

Hardest hit right now are the hay and other feed crops, which cattle producers depend on.

Kelly Malmberg, the Ag Manager with the County of Vulcan says there could be silver lining for cattle producers though.

"We were in the field pretty early this Spring. I see a lot of our pea crops, east of Vulcan within a week or two will be ready to be combined. Some of the really early seeded crops it won't help them, maybe help raise the bushell weights a little bit, but definitely some of the later stuff, it will help."

Malmberg says the rain will help late seeded crops grow which will help mitigate early season losses thanks to high wheat and canola prices.
