Albertans are now able to put their proof of vaccination QR codes to use.

The codes were first made available earlier this month, but the province has only just now released the app used to scan them.

The 'AB Covid Records Verifier' app is meant to be quick and easy, as well as resistant to tampering or forgery.

Health Minister Jason Copping demoed the app during Tuesday's (Oct. 12) COVID update, showing that verified QR codes show a green checkmark when scanned, whereas invalid records are marked with a red X.

Copping went on to say that the QR code and app do not store personal information, with the codes containing only the required information to verify vaccination status.

Starting on Nov. 15, the QR code will be the only acceptable proof of vaccination in Alberta.

Albertans can access their vaccine records at alberta.ca/CovidRecords and can also get a printed version at local registry agencies or via 811.
