It's still just an empty patch of dirt right now but work on a new Provincial Government and Foothills School Division administration building will be starting soon.

Assistant Superintendent for Corporate Services for the school division, Drew Chipman says it's still a go.

"The contract's been awarded to Graham Construction, so those guys are right now working on permitting with the Town of High River, development and building permits, so once they've got that nailed down to everybody's satisfaction they'll start moving ahead," Chipman says.

The lot is at 4th Avenue and MacLeod Trail right behind the Highwood Memorial Centre and the school division's current home.

Chipman says once it's done they can consolidate some of their services.

"We can move our Technology Services in from Okotoks Junior High, they were with us prior to the flood in 2013 so we're looking forward to getting them back," he says. "We're also going to bring back our I.M.C., so that'll come over from Senator Riley School, so we'll be amalgamating those three groups back with us."

The construction should be complete by the end of 2016.
