The Province is looking at whether marijuana should be sold in government run outlets or by private operators.

They're looking for feedback from Albertans on all the plans surrounding the legalization and sale of cannabis, which is supposed to start July 1, 2018.

Over 45,000 people responded to the government's first online survey about cannabis this summer.

“I’d like to thank every Albertan who participated in our various engagements regarding cannabis legalization over the summer. With your input, we’ve drafted a proposed framework to manage legalized cannabis in our province," Kathleen Ganley, Minister of Justice and Solicitor General says."We look forward to receiving additional feedback from Albertans on this framework.”

The NDP Government proposes to keep the age of possession or use at 18 and adults can only possess up to 30 grams.

Up to four plants could be grown indoors, no more than a metre in height and only for personal use.

They're also looking at new tools to expand the ability of police to address drug-impaired driving.

They're proposing strict rules around zoning retail locations and training for employees and the ability for municipalities to introduce additional restrictions on public consumption.

The public consultation period ends October 27, 2017.
