High River Town council approved moving forward with the sale of five properties due to tax arrears at the last meeting.

The five properties will go up for auction on Friday, May 4th unless their tax bills are paid.

The third and final pre-auction letter was sent on Tuersday, January 30 through registered mail.

The properties include one house, one duplex and three apartments and they owe a combined $97,000.

Three of them have been in arrears for five years.

The properties will have reserve bids and will be sold as is, where is, and the Town will give no warranty whatsoever.

Owners have until the day of the auction to pay the bills.

Another nine properties which have past due tax bills could be auctioned off later in the year.

When administration started to work on addressing past due taxes they had 84 residential properties and two others owning money.
