One young High River Cub Scout has sold an amazing amount of popcorn this year.

Quaid Hauck, 9, who is in his second year of cubs has sold over eight thousand dollars worth of popcorn by Oct 25th and he has a couple of good reasons as to why he wanted to sell so much.

'I can let my group go to camps," said Quaid. "And also let other people join Beavers, Cubs or Scouts."

Quaid's parents Alieen and Ron are helping him make the rounds and with the paperwork and the deliveries.

He added it is fun to meet new people while he is out door knocking to sell the popcorn.

Besides being the top seller his main push is to raise money so more people can join cubs and he can make more friends.

His parents say the interaction with different people has been good for Quaid.

"For us the reward is seeing him gaining life skills of dealing with all the different people and learning that some people like you knocking on their doors and some people do not, " said Ron.

Mom Aileen added in a world where everyone is ordering online the face-to-face interaction is very important and the proof is in his sales.

Quaid was the top seller last year earning $4,000 and he really hopes to hit $10,000 by the deadline on Friday.

Popcorn sales and Chirstmas tree sales are what funds the program in High River and 45 per cent of the money raised from the popcorn sales stays with the High River club.

There is also a scholarship portion to the sales and Quaid qualified last year with his sales so this year six percent of everything he sells will be added to that account for him.
