The Town of Okotoks is calling on residents to help them decide what facilities are needed in the future when it comes to recreation, parks and leisure in the community.

A master plan is in works to help decide what will be needed and what might not be as necessary.

Community Services Director Susan Laurin says the community will play a big role in determining what is needed.

"Over the next 10 to 20 years we need guiding documents on our leisure facilities, parks and recreation facilities to help administration and council make decision for the next 20 years," she says.

She says all recreational groups from minor hockey to trail walkers will be approached and encouraged to give their feedback to the Town.

"What we're looking for is from our existing community telling us what programs, services and facilities related to those do they like, what do they think we need to improve on and what should the future look like."

Laurin says she hopes everyone will take the time to tell the Town what is needed instead them assuming what is the right course of action when it comes to one's way of enjoying the amenities in Okotoks.

"We're sending out a mail out survey, you're going to have a very unique code very similar to the census. You can go online, fill it out and give us all of your opinions on what you use now, where you think we should be improving our programs, services and facilities. Along with what we'll need in the future."
