One of the last hold-outs in High River's Wallaceville neighbourhood has made a deal with the Province and sold his home.

Jamie Kinghorn fought to get what he thought was a fair deal for his home in Wallaceville and says he feels pretty good about getting what he did.

"I don't know if I won, but I think we got a fair deal finally put together a couple of weeks ago. So, it's fair for the government, fair for me, so it's time to move on."

He says now that the deal is done to his satisfaction, it's time to put it into the past, but he says it'll still be tough.

"You know High River really lost an entire community here and it's sad to see and a lot of people have left and a lot of homes are gone. So, it is tough and it's going to be hard to go by here. But I guess over time we'll slowly get used to it. I'd like to see them put a park in here, and some sort of commemorative benches or something, and maybe someday I'll bring the grandkids around and show them where the house used to be."

Kinghorn wouldn't say exactly how much he got from the Province, but says in his mind the settlement proves he was right to dig in his heels.

The former Town Councillor says he's not sure when the house he called home for over 20 years will come down.
