Investigations revealed that a pickup truck travelling southbound on Highway 2 collided with a car that was Eastbound on 306 Avenue East near Okotoks.

The driver of the pickup, a 36-year-old male sustained minor injuries from the accident while the driver of the car, a 59-year-old male died as a result of his injures from the collision.

Officers from Okotoks, Nanton and Turner Valley responded to the scene as well as the RCMP Collision Reconstruction Unit, EMS, Okotoks Fire and Foothills Fire Departments.

All factors are being considered in the investigation of the collision.

At 5:11 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, Okotoks RCMP responded to a fatal collision on Highway 2 Near 306 Avenue East.

Southbound Highway 2 was reduced to one lane while police attended to the victims and started their investigation.

The highway has since been cleared.

EMS says one man died in the crash, while no other's were taken to hospital.

RCMP say they'll release more information when it becomes available.
