The Town of Okotoks will once again be vying for the attention of the Provincial Government when it comes to the potable water pipeline they've been wanting for some time.

Annexation has been expanded for the town but until more water solutions become available, Okotoks can't truly grow to its potential.

Mayor Bill Robertson says the Town will busy this week in the provincial capital to try and get their message heard, again.

"We're going to be lobbying up in Edmonton with government officials regarding the funding for a pipeline," he says. "We need funding for this pipeline, 30 to 35 million dollars is a big ticket item for Okotoks residents to shoulder."

He says that price tag is one that requires outside aid.

"We can't do that on our own so we need a senior level funding for that. Both levels of government potentially, we're going to talk to provincial officials but we will be certainly going to the federal government as well for some of their infrastructure dollars."

At this point Robertson says the Town is willing to do whatever it takes to have the pipeline from Calgary to Okotoks happen.

"If they tell us to jump through these hoops we'll jump through those hoops, whatever they want us to do. I'm going to Edmonton to the AUMA conference and we can meet with government officials at that time."

Robertson and members of Town Council have spoke with provincial ministers at past AUMA meetings proposing the pipeline but have had a hard time getting an agreement in writing despite being shovel ready.
