Eighty two horses competed in the Canadian National Miniature Horse Show that ran Tuesday through Thursday at the Calgary Stampede.

Okotoks' Sabrina Langer and her mini Rich were entered in three of the competitions categories.

What drew the 19 year old to miniature horses? She says that her love of horses started with her equestrian physical therapy for her cerebral palsy that got her into dressage riding.

After three years of dressage with a couple of championships and the idea of cantering not being her favorite thing Langer says that she just kind of found mini's.

At the 2014 Calgary Stampede she looked into the ring and was awestruck by what she saw.

"I like the perfection there and the ideal that they are striving for, it's an ideal horse in miniature is what you want, it's fascinating to watch them because they can do anything," Langer says.

Adding that two years later her and Rich are at the Calgary Stampede competing.

Now what is Rick like you may ask? Langer describes the horse as a ham, explaining that he loves to be around people and pose for pictures.

Adding that when he is in the ring he commands it with the attitude that no matter what the judges think, he is the the best and he knows it.

"I like that attitude and encourage it because he shows his heart out for me," Langer explains.

For the duo that attitude was an asset yesterday as they walked away with ribbons from two out of the three categories they entered.

With that Langer wants to give those who are looking into showing mini's one piece of advice and that is to just have fun with it.

"I want to win as much as anyone, but I have come to the realization that it will take me years to get to where I want and I just have to be satisfied with little tiny mile stones."

Langer adds that you can expect to see her back in the rink again next year at the 2017 Calgary Stampede.
