On Sunday Sept. 18 the Terry Fox Run gets underway.

In Okotoks you can run, walk, bike, bring your dogs or push a stroller with the option to complete 2, 4, or 8 kilometres.

Sherry Heron, organizer for the Okotoks run, says funds raised go towards the Terry Fox Foundation and she has a certain goal in mind.

"I'd like to raise as much money as possible, I find this is a hard event to run because it's the beginning of school and everybody's asking for money, but $5,000 would be fantastic."

According to Heron, last year the run raised about $3,000-$4,000.

She says each year the run receives great support from the community.

"We usually have about 100-200 people show up. Some years we've had head shaves... usually we'll have teams up for people who have cancer and that type of stuff and we also have our regular supporters."

Registration for the run starts at 9:30 a.m. with the run beginning at 11.

A barbeque will follow the event courtesy of Fountain Tire and coffee will be provided from Tim Hortons.
