There was a large turnout for Okotoks' most recent freedom rally.

Hundreds gathered at the Olde Towne Plaza on Sunday (Oct.17) for the second Foothills Freedom Rally.

Approximately 600 people attended.

There were speeches from several speakers including pathologist Dr. Roger Hodkinson, respirator specialist Chris Schaefer, Chris Scott with Whistle Stop Cafe (near Mirror, Alberta), and some U of C students.

Throughout the rally, RCMP made their presence known, driving the streets back and forth surrounding the plaza.

Hodkinson spoke for around 30 minutes.

"There should be no asymptomatic testing. It's a fool's game," Hodkinson claimed. "As the Israeli experience has shown very, very clearly, it's the vaccinated who are now the spreaders of COVID," he claimed in his speech during the rally.

Several participants carried signs, some of which had photos of Premier Jason Kenney and Dr. Deena Hinshaw saying "wanted for crimes against humanity."

At the end of the speeches, there was an announcement from the stage that the local authorities had said walking on the roadway was not allowed and that the march was to remain contained to only the sidewalks.

While the rather large group started out that way, they eventually took to the road, filling the eastbound lane of McRae Street as they made their way back to the plaza.

The RCMP was present but kept driving.

Some of the speakers hung out afterward to talk with attendees, and the overall crowd dispersed shortly after their march.
