Another busy week down for the Okotoks Fire Department.

This past week they responded to 24 calls.

Ken Thevenot, Okotoks Fire Chief, says the department is seeing more calls so far this year compared to last.

"I did check last week and right now we're up about 75 calls from where we were last year at this time."

He explains there's no specific reason for the higher call volume.

"Even our grass fires, they're average for us. Our medical responses keep us busy. Our community is growing, there's lots of activity, we're a very active community which I think is a good thing, but on the other side of it it does keep our numbers up in different areas."

Calls this week included one alarm system activation, one public service, one grass fire, one water pipe break, 17 medical responses, and three motor vehicle collisions.
