Grand Central Bar and Grill in Okotoks was the victim of an armed robbery on Tuesday night.

Around 2 a.m. on January 19, RCMP responded to the call where the suspect confronted staff at the bar as they were closing and forced their way into the building and demanded money from the safe. The suspect took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Sgt. Sukh Randhawa says with instances like this staff should go along with demands.

"Staff should always comply, not only with this business but any other business, we always tell staff to comply with the demands of the person who's trying rob them for their own safety and in this case staff did exactly what they were supposed to do."

Randhawa says no one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male between 5'9 and 5'11 and approximately 180 lbs. with dark eyes and long brown/grey hair.

He was wearing grey sweat pants with a dark hoody, grey face mask with black shading and gloves, and was carrying a black backpack with several zippers.

Okotoks General Investigation Section is still investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Okotoks RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
