The old Centre Street bridge needs to be replaced to stop it from blocking the river during high stream flow events.

The devil's in the details when it comes to the provincial budget.

The province has earmarked $4.6-billion for roads and bridge construction.

Highwood's MLA Wayne Anderson says he continues to work to get some of that money to come to High River for the Centre Street bridge replacement.

"I started that the night before the budge came out with some key individuals requesting that we procure the funding for that," he says. "That's priority one for us to make sure we procure the funding, I mean that's an extremely important project, because that's the final phase of the flood mitigation strategy. I'd be really surprised if they don't want to go forward with that."

He says the water pipeline from Calgary to Okotoks wasn't listed specifically in the budget but he's still talking to town and provincial officials on that as well.

Anderson says it's a very comprehensive document and Wildrose staff are going through it to look for some of the specifics.
