RCMP in High River say 2015 was pretty consistent with other years as far as crime stats go.

Sergeant Brent Hawker says there was one area that kept them busy almost the whole year long.

"We had obviously  the issue with stolen vehicles and property being taken out of vehicles when they were left unattended and may not have been secured, that kept us busy throughout the year, but seemed to quiet down during the latter part of the year," Sergeant Hawker says.

He says, in general, personal and property crimes were pretty steady with what they've had to deal with in previous years.

Sgt. Hawker says they classify crimes in two areas, crimes against persons and property crimes.

"We tend to be pretty consistent throughout the years given the styles of crime that we receive," he says. "Essentially we look at crimes in two groups, persons crimes which are the more serious of the issues and they usually involve witnesses and they (victims) can provides the names of the people who assaulted them or whatever."

He says property crimes are done when there's no one around to see it go on and they tend to be a little harder to solve.

The stats are presented to the Town's policing committee quarterly for review.
