Turner Valley Mayor Kelly Tuck says neither her town nor Black Diamond will miss a beat with Sharlene Brown stepping down as mayor and into the CAO's chair in Black Diamond.

Tuck says they have a really good relationship with their counterparts in Black Diamond and she doesn't see that changing anytime soon.

Both councils have worked very closely over the last few years with our friendship agreement and now looking at the feasibility of amalgamation. And I think it's a tribute to having the right people at the table. And wanting to ensure that we're doing the best for our residents. I see Sharlene moving into this position as CAO, but still being able to assist her council."

Tuck know's what it's like to have one of their councillors step down and take over the CAO role.

Barry Williamson gave up his council seat shortly after the last election to take on the job.

And his on the job training as a veteran councillor has made him a very effective Chief Administrative Officer.

Tuck says, as much as she'll miss Brown as Mayor, ultimately it's a good move.

"We did find that having Barry step into the position, he kept the knowledge. Once you start losing knowledge of a community, with either a turnover of council or turnover of CAO, it's really hard to start at ground zero again. So her being able to step into that position will be good for Black Diamond."

Tuck says whoever steps into the Mayors chair will have the best interests of Black Diamond residents in mind.
