The opening of the Town of High River's yard waste drop off station will be delayed by about a week.

It was scheduled to open Monday April 24, but will be pushed back to Monday, May 1.

The Town's Operations Manager, Eugene Lund, says that's to accommodate some work going on at the site.

"We have to push the existing chain link fence further out to the East. And we also have to re-do the access points and the access gate into our operations yard to account for it."

Lund says when it's all done, there will be one way in and one way out.

"We're going to set up a second entrance. There'll be a second gate a little bit further to the East of where the existing one is now, into the recycle centre. And that will be the new entrance. The entrance/exit point there is now, will strictly be an exit point after we get this work done."

For the time being Lund says you'll have to keep taking your grass clippings, branches and leaves to
the dump.
