High River is going full steam ahead.

As the third year anniversary of the flood approaches, the Town's decided to have a celebration of how far its come.

Parks Planning Supervisor Kim Unger understands that some people might not want to commemorate it but the unveiling of two new murals and the party in George Lane Park is a chance to have some fun.

"It's an opportunity to get together and I think this project is going to remind us that we have great reason to be proud as a community, that we are resilient and we did experience something life changing and the community is better than it ever has been," Webb says.

The first new mural will be unveiled at 11 A.M. On Saturday, June 18, on the east side of the Servus Credit Union building. Entitles "New Roots" ,” the design features horses running through water and reflects the unity of the community working together to move forward through sprit and determination.

The second mural will be unveiled at 11:20 A.M. at Highwood Printing on the south wall.

It represents the spirit of community celebrating High River’s renewal. The viewer is invited to join a circle of people who have linked hands while children dance in the centre.

The Community Celebration goes from Noon to 4 P.M. at George Lane Park with a free bar-b-que, live music, arts and crafts and lots of other activities.
