The Foothills school division has good news for three of its schools.

Percy Pegler, Spitzee, and Foothills Composite High School have each been approved for a new modular.

Drew Chipman, assistant superintendent, says with Spitzee School being at almost 92% capacity, a bit more work will need to be done aside from adding the modular.

"It's still an area we need to be concerned because that's the area where the growth in that town is and it still doesn't alleviate the stress in some of those common areas like the learning commons and gymnasium, those types of things, so while it does help from a classroom perspective, that number of students in a facility of that size still causes stress."

Spitzee School is currently at 91.5% capacity.

Chipman says now the division will begin work getting the modulars in place.

"We need to get architects on site, prepare prep sheets, go through a conversation with the town to make sure we have their approval, then we get the prep sheets into the province, then get in the 'queue' so the facility then gets built and we're able to either go to tender or get bids on getting a contractor in place to get them in."

The division's goal is to try to have the modulars ready for fall.
