Jennifer Kristiansen is starting to settle into her new role as the Ward 5 trustee for High River after winning the election in the the Foothills School Division.

Kristiansen says the new role has been a lot of work, but it is very exciting.

"I am on a ton of committees," Kristiansen said. "One of the things that I had talked with my answers to the ATA and the public was that I was going to put a lot towards learning especially in my first year as trustee and I think that I am already showing that I am doing that. I have signed up for as many committees as I can."

She won the seat over incumbent Doug Gardner who held it for five terms.

"It has been interesting going and talking to the different school councils that I have been to so far. Same with the rec-board. I am excited that they want to work with the school division going forward. I think there are a lot of possibilities for a future."

Kristiansen does have someone she can call for advice in her new role as her sister Jeannine Tucker is also a trustee in Ward 1.

Tucker is also the only returning trustee.

"It has been really interesting working with my sister and getting feedback from other people. They think it's actually a really good relationship that we have that will enhance the board."
