There's $30,000 earmarked for projects residents or groups in High River to use in helping bring their ideas to life thanks to the new Community Vitality Fund.

Caitland Asmundson of Our High River says the town has partnered with them and she wants to hear our ideas on how to make the community better.

"The Community Vitality Fund is a fund that's available to citizens who want to lead community improvement projects in High River. People can apply for up to $2,000 in matching funds to do community projects."

She says applications are being accepted until December 1, 2016 and is hopeful the funds will be used before the end of the year while they're still available.

She says there are specific areas of focus for applicants to consider but is hopeful to have at least fifteen different projects under way.

"There's three different areas that we're looking at. We're looking at neighborhoods and there's also the downtown area that we're looking at. The third one is around arts and culture and we really want to look to the downtown for that one as well."

She says people can apply for a maximum of $2,000 for each project and adds all projects have to meet certain criteria.

Asmundson encourages residents that are passionate about the town and making it better to apply for funding to make it happen.

"We just want to know about the projects by December 1, so people can do projects past December I suspect we will have around the Christmas season that might be a good idea.
