The Town of High River is becoming a very attractive place for people to invest in both personally, by buying a home, or by setting up a new business.

Manager of Economic Development Jodi Dawson, says the price to buy homes and the incentives landlords are making for new businesses makes the Town a tempting place to be.

Twenty new businesses have opened in High River recently, about half are home base, half are store front, and lots of them are start ups.

"Some are relocations from other communities," said Dawson. "The relocations to the downtown I can think of a couple that came from other communities and they loved the streetscape downtown and they loved the feeling and thought it was beautiful."

Dawson adds there has been a lot of moving parts that everyone has had to work around and finally there are fewer moving parts.

A few of the new businesses downtown include White Bull, The Shop, Peculiar Leather and Renouvelez La Boutique.

"I'm certainly noticing a difference downtown for sure."

Between the economy and rebuilding after the 2013 flood it is nice to see new businesses coming to the downtown area.

"It is about being flexible. And first and foremost we want activity and we want people here. The landlords are committed to make that as easy as possible but also make a living and pay the bills."
