The Foothills MD still has concerns about flooding.

MD Mayor Larry Spilak says they've been in recovery mode for quite awhile and there's still issues that need to be kept in mind.

"We've spent the last three years on flood recovery and you know, the province has been very generous with assisting us with that and we're still not done, we're still dealing with the impact on the landowners east of High River," Spilak says.

He says the changes the Town of High River has made will affect the water flow in the event of another high water event and the affects downstream to the northeast and southeast of the town aren't known.

Spilak wants to make sure those landowners would be compensated if they get flooded again.

"Our objective is to stand beside our landowners and make sure they're properly compensated now by the government, by the province, should they be flooded because of this," he says.

Spilak says it affects those along both the Highwood river to the north and the Little Bow to the south.
