It's not exactly 'full speed ahead" but growth is a pressing issue with the Foothills School Division.

Superintendent John Bailey says the need is more urgent in Okotoks.

"Now that the annexation has gone through for Okotoks and they're working on a water solution, once those things happen you know my personal prediction is the area is going to take off and it's always fun planning for the future and planning for growth.  Those are always exciting things to do."

He says High River's not being left behind, it's just not growing as quickly right now which means need for news schools isn't as big an issue.  It's more about focusing on the space they have and using it more effectively.

"We made a change last year with a couple of our boundaries for Spitzee and Joe Clark for our Elementary populations because we found Spitzee was very, very full and Joe Clark had some room. And so this last school year was the first year for that change and that certainly brought a better balance.
