The Town of Nanton is ready to celebrate.

Their new waste water treatment plant is almost ready to open, and they're marking the occasion by holding a grand opening ceremony.

"We decided it was time have all the Town members come together, bring some dignitaries in a do a ribbon cutting'" said Mayor Rick Everett.

The ceremony takes place Tuesday, March 28 at 2 P.M.

After the ceremonies they will be taking people on a tour of the plant.

"We won't have the plant running purposefully because if it was running it would require a great deal of safety," he added.

It is a chance for residents to see how their tax dollars were spent on the $10-million project.

The project is a bit behind because of electrical storms last summer.

"We did get delayed about 10 days, but overall we are happy with the way construction has gone. The contractors have done a great job."

The project stuck very close to the budget.

"It will be great to get it up and running and have another 20 years of really a good plant with the latest technology."

The plant will be fully operational by June.
