With all the extra heat this week the Nanton Outdoor Pool is offering extended hours.

Recreation and Events Coordinator at the Tom Hornecker Recreation Complex, Leah Leadbeater says the idea came from a community member who thought it might be a way to beat the heat.

"She said have you ever thought of opening up maybe for a little bit longer during the evening," said Leadbeater. "And I thought that is genius. I think it is going to be lots of fun and I hope lots of people show up."

The pool normally closes at 8 p.m. so they're having open swim till 9:30 p.m. Thursday, August 9 and Friday, August 10, and till 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 11.

'You are welcome to canoodle around and just frolic and have fun. You can attempt to do some lane swimming if you dare."

Leadbeater adds there will be lots of kids swimming around.

"You can just come in and cool down."

The extended times on Thursday and Friday start at 6:30 p.m. and go until 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

To cool off outdoors in High River, the Spray Park is open until 7 p.m. daily.
