A current Nanton Councillor is hoping to become the new Mayor in the Municipal Elections.

Jennifer Handley has spent the last four years working on a couple of big projects including being one of the leads in the planning of the $11 million dollar wastewater treatment plant.

Handley says she is the right person for the job, at the right time.

"I knew I was the right fit at the right time. I love this town and absolutely I know that I can bring a totally different tone to this role and bring Nanton to a totally different group of people."

One of the biggest things she wants to work on is forming a Community Development Committee.

"Which will absolutely involve all of our societies, all of our museums, our business community, our schools, having them all available in a room."

Handley says then council can understand what they are going through and what their needs are.

The groups will also be able to add their perspectives.

"On things like beatification, tourism, and business development. We need to hear from all levels from elementary kids all the way up to our seniors community. That's what I am excited about."
